Comcast, Frontier Offer to Expand Internet Access
Things have been in flux here at the Sharon Connect Task Force since late March, when we presented a draft plan for a town-owned high-speed internet network that would serve all homes and businesses in Sharon. (You can watch the presentation here and see the plan itself here.) After 15 years of asking Comcast and Frontier to upgrade and expand their services in Sharon, Sharon residents decided to take matters into their own hands and hired Sertex Broadband Services to study the feasibility of a town-owned network. The plan showed that at a cost of $12.5 million for construction and an $89/month subscription fee, the town could manage a fiber-optic network that provided 1GB download/upload internet service for everyone who subscribed.
